Serving People to Impact a City

Trinity Fellowship is a lot more than a building on Hobart Street. We're about serving people and impacting a city. We want to reach out to a hurting city with the message of God's love and help our neighbors find a place to call their spiritual home. So we took a step of faith. We built a new ministry facility.

Financial

Obviously, a building of this size, ability, and purpose carries with it a large price tag.  However, we have gone to great lengths to build an excellent facility while still keeping costs in check. The total price tag for this building project is $6 million. To date, $3 million has been raised. We still need your help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the building campaign important?

The building campaign funds the hard costs of construction and the move-in expenses‹such as equipment and furnishings‹for the new facilities. It is important that we support the continued growth and mission established over our 15-year history.

How much does this building project cost?

The estimated project expense is $6 million in building costs. The project cost is funded through contributions from our congregation and the remainder through financing. Contributions from the congregation total $3 million to date.

What is the scope of this project?

The key components of the building campaign include: (1) a new worship center (sanctuary), (2) a new youth commons, (3) a new foyer, (4) a new children's ministry area, (5) infrastructure, i.e., security and utilities, (6) parking, and (7) campus landscape.

What is the time line of this building campaign?

In 2005 the Board of Elders envisioned a major capital campaign to purchase and renovate the old Wal-Mart facility on Hobart Street. Fundraising ran concurrently with construction and continues until the new facilities are debt free.

How are the funds being raised?

The funds for the building are being raised from contributions from the congregation and the remainder of the debt from construction costs are bank financed to be paid at an accelerated rate as funds come in.

How does the building campaign receive its funding?

Trinity Fellowship is broadly supported. Half of the building campaign's capital fund is provided by designated contributions from the membership, which totaled $3 million to date, with a fundraising goal of $6 million pledged and received over the span of the next two years. The remainder of the construction costs are bank financed to be paid at an accelerated rate as funds come in.

Do I have to be a member of Trinity Fellowship to give to the campaign?

No, please feel free to give to the building fund if you are a member of Trinity Fellowship or not.

Are donations to the building campaign tax-deductible?

Yes. Trinity Fellowship is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and contributions are tax-deductible for income, gift, and estate taxes.

I know I can give cash, but how else can I give to the building campaign?

In addition to cash gifts, there are several other methods of giving. The Trinity Fellowship Administration Office staff can help you tailor a gift that helps the building campaign and fulfills your long-term charitable and financial goals.

Can I make automatic contributions to the building fund?

Yes, you can also choose to contribute to the building fund automatically each month or on a quarterly schedule through a bank draft‹in which your contribution is electronically debited from your checking account‹or through a charge to your credit card. These funds are deposited directly into the building fund to be put to work immediately. To establish a recurring gift, call the Trinity Fellowship Office at (806) 665-3255 between 9:00 and 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time for details.

Can I give securities?

Yes, and save on both income and capital gains taxes with a gift of securities to the Trinity Fellowship Building Fund. Transferring securities (stocks or bonds) to the Trinity Fellowship Building Fund allows you to make a gift and receive a charitable deduction equal to the full, fair market value of the securities. You pay no capital gains on your gift and neither does Trinity Fellowship. The best method of transferring these assets to Trinity Fellowship Building Fund is to contact your broker and electronically transfer the stock from your account to Trinity Fellowship. Avoid selling the assets and then making a gift of the proceeds, because this will trigger a capital gains liability for you. Be sure to consult your tax accountant for all specific tax advice.

What about matching gifts?

Matching Gifts‹Double Your Gift to Trinity Fellowship Building Fund. Many corporations agree to match the personal charitable donations of their employees with an equal or greater corporate contribution. Businesses also often match the charitable donations made by spouses or those who retired from the company. At no additional cost to you, your contribution can work twice as hard to help Trinity Fellowship with our capital campaign. To initiate a matching gift, complete your company's matching gift form and send it along with your gift to Trinity Fellowship and be sure to designate your gift to the Building Fund. We will complete the form, certifying that Trinity Fellowship has received your gift and that we are eligible to receive matching gifts under your company's guidelines; we then forward the form to your company. After verifying the eligibility of both the donor and Trinity Fellowship, the company sends a check to Trinity Fellowship with a designation to the Building Fund. Each corporate matching program has its own rules. You should check with your employer's personnel department to see if your gift qualifies for a corporate match.

Can I provide for the building fund through my will or estate?

Yes. Gifts to Trinity Fellowship through your will are free of estate tax. A bequest to Trinity Fellowship can be a gift of a specific dollar amount, a specific piece of property, a percentage of an estate, or all or part of the residue of an estate. You can also name Trinity Fellowship as a contingent beneficiary if someone named in your will is no longer living at the time of your passing. A bequest to Trinity Fellowship is easy to arrange and can be made by including the following words in your will:

I give, devise, and bequeath to Trinity Fellowship, 5000 Hollywood Road, Amarillo, TX 79118 (insert amount of money, percentage of estate, or describe property) to be used for its building fund.

Any type of cash, securities, personal property or real estate can be given through a bequest. Trinity Fellowship can also be named beneficiary of assets which often pass outside a will, such as IRAs, pension plans, life insurance, or assets held in a trust. Be sure to consult with your financial advisor for specific advice regarding your personal financial planning.
